Last week I got a world-class boot shine at the Nashville airport. As you
may know, the sole and uppers on cowboy boots are often made with the white
stitches showing. Traditionally, white chalk is used to buff up the
contrasting look. The shoe shine guy told me he can no longer do that
because the TSA forbids him from bringing in a stick of chalk. Why, he
could possibly be carrying in anthrax, he was told.
