I'm on android version 6.0.1.x   It looks like you might have called it
Glen. It might be possible to help a Nexus 5's radio by using a older
version of the radio's software.

There's claims that also helps battery life a bit to since it'l more
elegantly choose between cleaner frquencies and amplitudes.
