Hi, David, Thanks for this. I spent some time with kialo today (with the Bush funeral playing in the background.) You are right, it is the kind of thing I had in mind. I found it oddly disappointing. The comments seemed to lack conviction. I am not sure what I mean by that except to say that I got no sense that anybody was trying to convince anybody of anything. I have begun to conceive of a reality show in which teams of people, each team composed of a great variety of political persuasions compete to discover an agreement on a political problem, the team coming up with the best solution winning big bucks. Of course there would have to be some sort of judging to keep groups from arriving at cynical agreements. I think a discussion is most useful when people disagree but have, for some reason, to come up with a solution.
