A Google Pixel (I have the 3 XL) will give you the most "untainted by bloatware" version of Android - plus regular updates. Can't speak to rooting it. I continue to be impressed by the camera - it's flat out amazing.
But no removable memory (automagically uploads to your google account online) and there are times I wish it was better as an actual phone - mostly what I want to call someone.
