In Austria and Germany we have the concept of "short-time work", a flexible
form of temporary leave where the company pays less or nothing and the state
pays benefits instead. Like unemployment while still being employed. My wife
(who works in a hotel as a F&B manager) and I have both assigned to short-time
for the last monthhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Short-time_working-J.
