I am not sure if Europe is more civilized than America. We have our own
problems. In Germany for example there is no speed limit on highways in
general. Some people are proud of it, others want to end this freedom because
it increases pollution and traffic accidents. Driving 200 km/h (124 mph) can be
nice, but it also has drawbacks. Any speed limits have been prevented so far by
the powerful car industry, which is the most important industry here. I would
say the car culture here is comparable to the weapon culture in the US. But it
is going to change: gasoline and diesel cars will be banned in 10-15 years.-J.

Breakfast in Santa Fe Well, to contrast that a bit, I've had guns pointed at me
(aggressively) 3 times. (Many more "playfully".) None of them pulled the
trigger, luckily. But that just proves that they do NOT take guns seriously.
They are more toy, less weapon ... which makes them even more dangerous. Also,
2 of my friends from high school were murdered, one with a gun, one with a
knife. This country is more violent than privileged white dudes might have you
believe. Jochen would be wise to take vacation in a civilized country. On
