and for the use cases involved a prone position...

I do often wish I could adjust the up-vector in my Quest or Go such that I  could use it laying down or reclining significantly. Movies and 2.5D paint programs already support arbitrary orientation including azimuth, but "obvious" other apps I'd like to be able to use en-recline are 3D modeling (e.g. SketchUpVR), workbench apps like molecular modelling (e.g. Nanome).

In support of Dave's point about vestibular vs visual cues, this mode *could* be problematic for some folks and I'd expect *visceral* apps like dance/games to be quite awkward.  On the other hand, if the mode of locomotion in an app were to be "fully bouyant levitation" I expect the prone position would actually work *better* than standing.  An auto-tilt inversion "chair" would probably facilitate faux gravity adjustments as long as there was >0G in at least one direction (nominally gravity and ac/deceleration).

The market continues to evolve... the new Samsung Omnicept in the list of Steam recommended headsets adds interesting features like gaze/pupillary/lip detection/tracking and heart rate...  but naturally apps that exploit this (well) will lag and there will be other divergent sensors in competing gear "soon".

I remember when TUIO <https://www.tuio.org/> and multi-touch was the end-all of advanced UI abstractions!

Ha! Y'all are pissin' me off, here. The classification of twinking as cheating is so over. This point still qualifies for both the general content of the list and the VR/AR discussion. The difference between a bug and a feature depends on the perspective of the "user". E.g. the Log4Shell bug isn't a bug. It's a feature if you're a black hat looking to "move fast and break things" or if you're a white hat looking for some street cred. Circuit benders, gamers, rave attendees, microdosers, etc. are all properly classified as psychonauts. Twinking is yet another form of it.

Of course, it's irritating when the butthurttryhard just wants to defeat the stupid boss to make progress in the game and some twink keeps killin' 'em on the run to the boss. The victim thinks it's cheating. But game theory and coevolution tell other stories. Git Gud or Go Home. Do what thou wilt is the whole of the Law.

and I'm learning that twink could refer to the cheating player themselves or in Glen's use:

" It can also be used to describe the process of keeping a video game character at a low level while using in-game currency, earned by a high-level character, to provide it with superior equipment."

I think I will try randomly using "it's time to get my twink on" with my gamer son.

Thanks for taking/following/explicating that bait.  I was pretty sure glen was Tweaking us with Twitch and Twink... very NLP if not actually poetic.

I was only aware of the gay-culture terminology but trusted that Glen (as he is wont to do) was expanding our vocabulary/awareness in some way that I failed to unroll fully (nominally an arbitrarily deep fractal/iterated map?).
