I guess there will be Optimus Prime instances filling the role of playing golf with customers/peers/superiors by playing with one another?   No reason a humanoid robot can't not just be trained to whack their balls around with sticks but also do it with the same signature style up to and including styles of cheating?  See Commander in Cheat <https://www.hachettebookgroup.com/titles/rick-reilly/commander-in-cheat/9780316528030/?utm_source=chatgpt.com>.

When Musk was advertising for people to "train" these humanoid robots, I took it to mean gearing up to "teach by example" and encouraged Mary to check into it.  She is a consummate goathead weed-puller and it occurs to me that with the right IP agreements, one could spend a season shadowed by an OptimusPrime (or equivalent) and at the end be "set for life" on the $.001/weed royalties for every weed pulled by every instance anywhere forever?  I'm sure Musk doesn't offer shared IP...

I recently was corrected by (on of my favorite) favorite authors, Margaret Atwood, in the introduction to her recent Essay collection: "Burning Questions" on the (mis) attribution of "Golf: A good walk spoiled" to Twain when it was apparently instead WC Fields.   Noodling that out lead me to twain Twain *actual* golf-quip: "“It’s good sportsmanship not to pick up lost golf balls while they are still rolling.”   There are quite a few well known sources of such quips it would seem,   perhaps the biggest thing I've missed out on by being constitutionally averse to Golf?

Just a few:

“I regard golf as an expensive way of playing marbles.”
   — G.K. Chesterton

“Golf is a game invented by the same people who think music comes
   out of a bagpipe.”
   — Lee Trevino“

Golf combines two favorite American pastimes: taking long walks and
   hitting things with a stick.”
   — P.J. O’Rourke

Can’t imagine a group of people I’d rather spend _my entire life_ around.

I'm a little confused. Musk says we'll leave it all to the robots and the AI

But he has them doing this:

Subject: [FRIAM] bro, please

With the chaos at the NIH (and the whole fed, I guess), I find myself trolling
job offerings. Methodologically, I'm lazy, somewhere between a cynic, a taoist,
and an apatheist. And almost every job offer contains sentiments like this:

"We take ownership, seek excellence, and play to win with the seriousness and
camaraderie of an Olympic team." Hoorah! Get Pumped! Let's Goooooo! Yeeeeaaaaahhhh!

OMG I'm so tired of it. I guess it's similar to toxic positivity. It's so
refreshing when some rando at the pub vehemently disagrees with me. They're
often surprised when I respond enthusiastically to their disagreeable nonsense.
The same goes with this toxic enthusiasm. Chill, dude. You're harshin' the vibe.

Where are the job offerings where we just want to do some stuff, slowly,
compromising quality, speed, and cost but with the flippance and laissez faire
of a stoned kid playing Stardew Valley? Or maybe the 60 year old farmer with
no kids who shambles from the bed to the tractor at dawn but doesn't get all
wound up about whether she'll live to see the next dawn? These are the jobs I
want. I'm the turtle and the world seems full of hares.
