While continuing to compare combinations of Solaris and Linux on x86 and sparc hardware, I recently configured a Sun UltraSPARC III server with Debian 4.0
http://www.debian.org/releases/stable/sparc/ After a slightly rough start just getting the "business card" net install to boot after the initial installation, I am reminded yet again why "I love Debian" :-) Anyway, I just wanted to report successful builds of both OpenAxiom (Rev: 783) and FriCAS (Rev: 346) using an all native Debian supplied toolchain including GCL. (The original Axiom distribution on Debian is also available from the Debian repository for this platform.)
