Hi, I'm trying to install Fricas in Cygwin in windows vista, but I run into an error (posted below). Can anyone tell me what I need to do to get things working?
I'm following the instructions in the INSTALL.CYGWIN file (I'm using the version at https://fricas.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/fricas/trunk/INSTALL.CYGWIN, which I think is the right one). Things go fine until step 5. I get the first error like the instructions say I probably will, but when I do the second make, after a while (a couple hours) it fails with the error below. I've tried three times, deleting and reinstalling cygwin and starting from scratch each time. Is there something I can do to fix it? Also, the top of the INSTALL.CYGWIN file says instead of doing it this way I can just install by downloading the tarball (presumably fricas-1.0.6.cygwin.tar.bz2). This seems like it would be easiest, but I can't find detailed instructions anywhere how to do this. Maybe it's supposed to be self-evident, but I'm not good with unix stuff, and don't know what to do. Lastly, there's a windows installer at http://axiom-wiki.newsynthesis.org/FriCASBinaries, which seems to work fine for me without requiring cygwin at all, but it is an old release.
