How the programmers live with this?
For debugging, it is often needed to comment out some large block
in the source.
Do they save the file to  Foo.spad.sav,
remove the block in  Foo.spad,  and so on?

In emacs I highlight the block of code I want commented and then use a regular expression, i.e.

replace-regexp  "^" with "--"
