IMHO ')undo' is sometimes handy.  AFAICS it worked in 2009.
BTW: we simply should ignore error from delete -- trying to test
before is more complex and incorrect (there is race condition
between test and delete).

It seems that error messages no longer show up in generated pages
(IIRC error used to be visible).
