I took a quick look at the patch. I do not understand what you mean
by "copy the aldor source directory structure..."? If you mean the
few files needed for FriCAS-Aldor interface than definitely flat
is better.

What you mean by "properly works"? The problem you reported can
be reproduced using free Aldor from aldor.org. I did not try
it with non-free Aldor, but given how small are differences
between non-free and free version I would expect the same
results. OTOH if there are important things that used to
work but fail now, then this would be good reason to delay
merging it.
