Since this paper is more about programming in SPAD, I've added a link to the ProgrammingSPAD page. I think it's interesting what Davenport writes on page 9 under item (4). Obviously they initially had the intention that adding Rep := ... means that one can dive into the representation of the respective domain, being well aware that this is dangerous. There are probably quite a number of domains in the library following this strategy. I still don't like it and hope we rather export enough functionality from the underlying domains so that such dangerous actions are no longer necessary. Anyway, this article contains some interesting information even for people who already know programming in SPAD.
