I don't know exactly at the moment. These cases don't seem to appear too
often (fortunately), I'll modify them, when I step over them.
I just wanted to notify that up to my current knowledge single lines are
better.

They are there for hypertex(?) and LaTeX. At least in LaTeX, multiple
spaces are contracted to one space.
In fact the whole escaping business is pretty ugly. I cannot do much
about it at the moment, but when the book is ready, I will clean up the
sources.
