FriCAS does not need noweb. However, the change was done in
a way which _allows_ using noweb (in particular noweave)
via very simple wrapper. I described effect in mail at the
time when the change was made.
To be more precise: I personally have no use of this markup.
It is quite possible that the markup is not working. When
removing noweb I made minimal changes needed to compile
the files without notangle. Most files had basically only
boilerplate markup, I removed it. In other cases I was
trying to preserve as much of markup structure as possible,
so that authors could work in the way they intended.
AFAICS only Ralf Hemmecke fixed markup problems in files
that he wrote. In other cases makup seem to be
abandoned by the authors. Still, I think it is proper
to wait some time for possible voices one this question.
