What would we gain from such a check? BTW: IEEE mandates
x ~= x when x is a NaN. We definitely do not want this
(as this seriusly interferes with mathematical reasoning).
So for us _full_ IEEE compliance is undesirable and we
can not claim _full_ compliance.
