The new wiki site at wiki.fricas.org now allow again running FriCAS. The site runs in new virtual machine with updated operating system. Compared to old wiki there are some limitations: old wiki allowed running Reduce and in the past Maxima and possibly Sage and Sympy. Currenly only FriCAS is installed in the machine and trying to edit pages containg Maxima, Reduce, Sage or Sympy code leads to errors, so such page can not be modified (unless all references to other systems are removed). Also, FriCAS in the wiki by default does not allow running Lisp code (and maybe also Boot, I did not check that).
Currently Gnuplot graphics is disabled due to security reasons. Installing Maxima, Reduce and Sympy should not be very hard, so if there is interest I may do this in near future. Sage is too big and changes too fast, installing it would be significant effort, so I will not do this. BTW: There were various ideas about possible replacement for the wiki. ATM wiki runs old Zope and I would prefer to switch to something else. OTOH core mathaction code is less than 2000 lines and I think it could be reused with different wiki engine. BTW2: A first in new machine performance was very bad, trying to edit pages lead to timeouts. It turned out that wiki was running latex in directory contaning almost 140000 files and that was very slow. Now wiki runs latex in different directory and this is faster. Still, edits arr not very fast, but probably faster than old wiki on old machine. -- Waldek Hebisch -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "FriCAS - computer algebra system" group.
