Dear Noah, Donate to Protect Grizzly Bears http://action.sierraclub.org/site/R?i=1DIChqNG3g2qc2GGgE_wSA.. U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service officials in the Bush Administration have removed the grizzly bear from the Endangered Species List. The Bush Administration wants Americans to believe that the grizzly was delisted because it is no longer endangered - but the real reason for delisting the grizzly was to open its protected habitat to drilling, logging and development. Taking the grizzly off the Endangered Species List sets real recovery back decades. That's why we need your support today! http://action.sierraclub.org/site/R?i=lWQJJOXZ7TPbnZ29hZE9DA.. Thirty-three years ago, the grizzly bear was placed on the Endangered Species List and has been making a slow but steady recovery. But today there are still less than 1,300 grizzlies in the lower forty-eight states - far too few to ensure this magnificent animal's future survival. And to make matters worse, global warming is causing new threats to the grizzly by impacting one of their principle food sources, the whitebark pine. Rising temperatures are causing an explosion in the pine beetle population, resulting in the rapid disappearance of this key source of food. This means that protection for grizzly habitat is more critical now than ever before. The grizzlies may not have the Endangered Species Act to protect them, but they still have us. The Sierra Club needs your donation today, so we can fight back: * By increasing public pressure on the Bush Administration by publicizing their outrageous delisting of the grizzly across the country. * By pushing our friends in Congress to take action. Congress approves their funding, so officials in the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will listen to complaints coming from Capitol Hill. * By taking the Bush Administration to court. The Sierra Club and other concerned organizations have filed suit in federal court in an effort to reverse this decision. Our opponents have a multi-million-dollar war chest funded by the oil, gas, land development and timber companies, we are depending on your support to overturn this decision. http://action.sierraclub.org/site/R?i=eUWVKNmc4U8ffM-tgwSo8g.. http://action.sierraclub.org/site/R?i=Mc87QGAh_ti30MNX4-dhAw.. By working together, we pulled the bald eagle back from the brink of extinction. Together, we can still save the grizzly! Sincerely, Carl Pope Executive Director P.S. In recent months, the courts have taken a stand against the Bush Administration's anti-environmental policies. Even the Supreme Court ruled against the EPA. With your support, we can keep the victories coming. Please support our efforts to protect the grizzly, as well as all of our work to preserve wildlands and wildlife, keep our air and water clean, and beat global warming. http://action.sierraclub.org/site/R?i=0nDmO_H96eyQueZSJ-l0cg..
