Citizen’s Meet on rhino-poaching, illegal trade, rhino horn verification process Guwahati:Nature’s Beckon and Journalists Forum Assam have organized a Citizen’s Meet on relentlessrhino-poaching, illegal rhino horn trade and also the ongoing rhino horn verificationprocess in Assam on 1 September (Thursday) at Guwahati Press Club. The meeting,where everyone concerned to the conservation of forest and wildlife is invited,will start at 11 am and continue till 2.30 pm.
Forrecords, the Rhino Horn Verification Committee, constituted by Assam governmentfound at least five fake horns at the treasury, which provides ample sense for demandinga high level probe against the poaching of one-horned rhinos in various forestreserves for illegal international markets. The Citizen’s Meet isexpected to prepare a memorandum to the State and Union government in New Delhidrawing their immediate attention towards the protection of wildlife in all forestreserves including the world famous Kaziranga National Park.
