Dear Barua,
Your article "Angkor Wat - The Eighth Wonder of the World' is very well written and takes us to the era when India was so rich and so powerful. When we were small we learnt India is poor and is devoid of any power. I was in Jakarta for about 3 years and observed huge Indian influence in old time Indonesia. But what I found most interesting was the Hindu influence of the South East Asian region had connection to Ramayana Era but not to the Mahabharata Era. From the little research I have done to understand this issue, I think the Indian influence in the South East Asian region most probably came from the South Indian powerful Tamil Choila and Pallavi dynasty. In south India Ramayana is more important than Mahabharata. Ramayana involved South India and may be related to the war between the Aryans from the north with the Dravidian from the south. The Harappa and Mahenjodaro civilization is attributed to the Drvidian civilization. I visited Mahenjodaro and Harappa and was impressed with the so well designed modern cities with roads at right angles and houses equipped with water supply and rubbish disposal system. Dravidian in Mahenjodaro and Harappa were not fighters and they got kicked out from North by the Aryans who were basically fighting Nomadic tribe. They most probably learnt a lot about agriculture etc from the Dravidians. Dravidians were forced to develop fighting skills and eventually strong powerful dynasties like Choila and Pallavi dynasty evolved who expanded into the South East Indian region. I am jack of all trades and master of none. I never try to go so deeply into any thing except when it involves Geophysics and oil Exploration. You most probably know more about all these issues. In the Gupta period Indian civilization spread over a huge overseas region most probably even into South East Asia followed by Buddhism.
