Thanks Binoy and Shantikam   da for your feedback.
It is a sad but harsh reality that  Jugal Bhuyan was indeed called ‘SULFA’. I
knowlate Bhuyan since 2006, how ostracized he was then. He was, in fact, on
theverge of closing his beloved Pragylaya till the fateful call from me while
Iwas in Austin , Texas. On the other hand, here in US I was also
facingquestions. I vividly remember that day, when my good friend Partha Gogoi
, thenthe President of AFNA, called me – to rescind the campaign for Pragylaya.

It took a lot of efforts to convince everyone – the rest is history.Personally,
It was immensely fulfilling for me as I began to see the outpouringof support
all over the world including US , Canada , Australia , Europe andfrom Assam. I
am grateful to Shantikam Hazarika, FASS members in Guwahati,  all our AFNA
members in USA for visiting Pragylaya. I am hoping to write and acknowledge
their love , affection andcontribution to a fellow Assamese man.

Late Jugal Bhuyan’slegacy , as we know today, is a collective consciousness
and goodwill of globalnon- resident Assamese.  I am hopeful andoptimist that
something good will come out from the peace initiative by  ULFA general
secretary Anup Chetia and Sri SriRavi Shankar. There is a letters to editor
published in Assam Tribune on this topic today titled - "Pushhing forward ULFA
peace initiative"

Just wanted to add that several of us at AFNA visited Pragyalaya many

met Mrs. Bhuyan (spouse of Late Jugal Bhuyan) along with Makhan Sarmah earlier
in April this year. They are all a dedicated group of people trying to do
something meaningful in society.
Let's help them the best we can.

I am held aghast at this bringing up of the late Jugal Bhuyan in order to
support some social contrabands. JUGAL BHUYAN WAS NEVER A SULFA. As far as what
I remember of what he told me, he was apprehended by the Security Forces on his
return after completion of his Training in Kachin Area and was duly
incarcerated. On his release and return to civil society, as an atonement for
his past belligerency, he started Pragyalaya, with its Noble mission and
purpose. How many of these SULFA scums have even visited Pragyalaya, a monument
raised by one of their fellow traveller?

I am at present being overwhelmed by the engorgement of my social media outlets
by discussions on issues that cover almost all aspects of anything taking place
in this world. Hence, for the last month or so, my access to the social media,
whether email, Whatsapp, Facebook, have been minimal. However, Ankur's mail was
brought to my notice today and I felt it would be necessary to keep a fact
straight.

Subject: Re: [SupportAChild-Assam] Sri Sri Ravi Shankar in Assam

Thanks  Diphu da for your resonse. However , I need to address the following as
express by Shantikam Hazarika. I am also marking a copy to  other email groups
since it is an urgent topic.Quote - Isnt a pity Sri Sri Ravi Shankar had to
lean on a SULFA for a mission destined to fail? This SULFA should be behind
bars.  Unquote

With reference to the above I must address the same since I myself was involved
in supporting a fellow Assamese who was also branded as “SULFA”. It was Jugal
Bhuyan who after realizing the folly of insurgency , came out and opened a
school cum orphanage called Pragyalaya at a distant village in Titabar. In the
year 2006, I read an article on him and moved by his sincerity and dedication ,
brought forth a proposal to AFNA to support his school. Understandably there
were questions about his past. I myself had to endure some. However, due to a
relentless campaign through Pragyalaya website and YouTube video created by me
and my wife, people began to embrace and eventually Pragyalaya was one of the
most successful projects supported both by AFNA and FASS. Over the last several
years Scores of AFNA well-wishers visited the school , it became a pilgrimage
and second home to many Assamese non-residents. There had been recognitions
from Assam Gove with the honorable chief visiting Pragyalaya. There was a
Gandhi Peace walk where Garvin Brown from Australia led the march from the
school. For me , the most enduring moment was when I visited and met Jugal
Bhuyan for the first time. Perhaps , he was getting recognition for the first
time and late  Bhuyan was overwhelmed. I will never forget that moment – which
I can only express only through the poignant observation by Sri Sri "In this
conflict, everyone should be considered as victims. And inside every culprit,
there is a victim crying for help."
The ex- ULFA members are making an effort  - to be accepted and also to
contribute to society. Like late Jugal Bhuyan there must be other members who
are sincere and genuine – as a fellow human being , we need to encourage and
support such effort.
The fabric of Assamese society is torn at the seams, due to the decade long
violence, mistrust and divisiveness. Any more intolerance, indifference and
irrationality will completely and irreversibly break our social fabric.
Assamese society is in a critical juncture, only the enduring message of peace,
love and compassion can bring us back together and we have to decide whether to
get serious or break up.

My personal observation is: I am sure an Enlightened person such as SriSri is
fully aware of Mr Chetia's past, And so, I am assuming that the BENEFITS of
this collaboration effort to bring awareness (or enhancement of the present

Communities NOW, far weigh out the dark deeds of Chetia's PAST!
ONE CAN NOT UNDO THE PAST, BUT THAT DOES NOT MEAN WE HESITATE MOVING FORWARD
WITH SOMETHING FOR GOOD NOW.
So, also along with Ankur and many others, I am saluting, welcoming and
thanking his Holiness SriSri for visitng Assam.
