I am glad report that on 3rd January, 2019, I have presented a Talk and
Workshop on Meditation in general with specialization on Vipassana
Meditation to a selected group of about 50 Seniors and Juniors in Jorhat. I
am glad to note that among the participants was also a local Xotradhikar
who showed keen interest in the Vipassana meditation.

Vipassana is the original meditation that Buddha created for his own
enlightenment and which is quite different from Yoga meditation of
Patanjali. It is a simple breath meditation but which has great impact on
the physical and mental life of an individual. This Vipassana meditation in
its original form was was lost in India for several centuries and which was
recently rediscovered in Myanmar. Credit for this discovery and and its
revival goes to the indusdrialist late S. N. Goenka. Today Vipassana is a
very popular meditation which is being given freely to various company
executives in India. Today there are about 200 Vipassana centers all over
the world which is given free of cost. In the North East, there are
Vipassana Meditation centers in Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram. At present a
center is under construction in North Guwahati. In the USA, there are free
Vipassana Meditation centers in major cities. For those who live in
Houston, nearest Vipassana Meditation centers are in Waco and Dallas in
Texas. You may find more details in www.dharma.org
