I finally got some time to do a little research and figured out how to use dselect to
loads apps in Debian. I now have a working Gnome desktop with open office, Firefox,
and several other apps in and working! Even the CD player audio works.

Next operation- recompile the OS for my computer...

Thanks to everyone who helped me get it working at the installfest.

Any suggestions for must-have type apps? What is a good newsreader that can assemble
multipart binaries? Is there anything like powerpost for linux?

MR

PS - I still have an apparently dead stiffy disc drive. I'll buy a new one on my next
trip to babylon.
