One brand:

Cisco

Their pcmcia wlan cards are awsome. I had one with my x86 laptop and
the drivers and configuration are wonderful. The linux kenel has open
source drivers for it, and it can be configured with open-source only
utilities or Cisco's feature-rich GUI. The range is very good too.
But, one does pay a premium... I had an aironet 352 model, if I
remember correctly.
