I'm sure most (all?) of you saw this on Slashdot, but I just had to comment because Mike Goodspeed was wanting a "pretty" graphical installer but also dislikes (hates?) Gentoo's always-build-from-source philosophy.

I can personally say that graphical wizard-like installers are very nice and useful (I have installed Ubuntu on a test box since installfest to try it out.), but I can also say that I learned a great deal about working with a *nix system through the process of the manual Gentoo install. I guess there are pros/cons as always.
