I also found this article interesting. I have also experienced these problems with Windows and Linux. I run the computer department in a local bank and we have been moving toward LCD monitors. We have a couple of LCD monitors that will not start up in Linux (SuSE 9.1) at all and I have to <Ctrl><Alt><Backspace> to get the video to sync after bootup. The one lesson we have learned with LCD monitors is that when you pay cheap, you get cheap. The lower cost we pay for these 17" LCD monitors the worse the resolution, auto-adjust and other configuration problems are. So now, we have selected a few brands that work for us, and will not stray from those manufacturers.
