I would look to see if you didn't lose some font package with the upgrade. I tend to carry a lot of fonts on my system, and consequently I never know which ones make things look good/right. But packages I'd try: xfonts-base xfonts-100dpi xfonts-scalable You might see if you have them installed and install any missing ones. You might also bring your laptop to the next meeting, which I just realized has not been announced yet, but is Wednesday at my house.
