The cleanest (i.e., no advertisements), most comprehensive single
source on the web I've found for Linux programming is here:

It happens to be about Ada programming, but large amounts of it are
language-neutral.  It includes everything from extremely simple to
incredibly complex, including stuff on GTK.

There are even some incomplete sections, so an enterprising student
who wants a worthy project can contribute!
