I got two HD cards at circuit city since they were going out of business and they were cheap.  I put them in my PC and a spare hard drive and installed mythbuntu.  The setup probably would have worked great but since the cards are HD I had to do a little bit of manual configuring to get them to work.  It was all well documented, but I ended up deciding that I'd need to spend too much on other hardware (I think my PC would have trouble keeping up with digital signal and that's all I will get after the digital transition) and too much time (like I said the standard setup took care of most of it, but it didn't automatically recognize my HD card), but all my research pointed to it being a solid solution.  Plus someone at work uses it (with analog) and has had success.

PS - If you are interested in the digital cards (one or both) let me know.

I have some experience with these. What kind of signal are you trying
to capture, i.e. digital cable, analog cable or over the air HD? I
have extra capture cards at home if you need one.

I'm wondering if anyone on the list has experience using video capture cards
with Linux.  I've been playing around setting up a desktop box at home as a
MythTV server, and I'd like to experiment with wideo capture.  For now, I
dont' think I need a tuner, remotes, or anything fancy (but if you have
something fancy that you like, I'd be interested in that too).

Thanks in advance for any information you have!
