I got two HD cards at circuit city since they were going out of
business and they were cheap. I put them in my PC and a spare hard
drive and installed mythbuntu. The setup probably would have worked
great but since the cards are HD I had to do a little bit of manual
configuring to get them to work. It was all well documented, but I
ended up deciding that I'd need to spend too much on other hardware (I
think my PC would have trouble keeping up with digital signal and
that's all I will get after the digital transition) and too much time
(like I said the standard setup took care of most of it, but it didn't
automatically recognize my HD card), but all my research pointed to it
being a solid solution. Plus someone at work uses it (with analog) and
has had success. Chris PS - If you are interested in the digital cards (one or both) let me know. Clayton Davis wrote: Dr. Thatcher- I have some experience with these. What kind of signal are you trying to capture, i.e. digital cable, analog cable or over the air HD? I have extra capture cards at home if you need one.-Clayton Davis On Thu, Mar 26, 2009 at 2:48 PM, Scott Thatcher <[email protected]> wrote:I'm wondering if anyone on the list has experience using video capture cards with Linux. I've been playing around setting up a desktop box at home as a MythTV server, and I'd like to experiment with wideo capture. For now, I dont' think I need a tuner, remotes, or anything fancy (but if you have something fancy that you like, I'd be interested in that too). Thanks in advance for any information you have!
