As far as clients go, I have used cadaver with Truman servers and been reasonably happy. I did find there was a sort of short timeout with locks if I used the "edit" command in the client. But the get and put always worked fine. Recently I've switched to using davfs and mounting the filesystems, and that has been very good. That is my preferred method of working with Truman webdav workspaces now. In each case, however, if I've wanted to use a Linux client with a project (and perhaps the same is true for Mac) I've needed to let ITS know the need. There is a bit more for them to configure if it is anticipated that access will be made with something different than FrontPage.
