Seneca (www.senecadata.com) is looking for a Linux Software and
Hardware Engineer. The position is in Syracuse, NY and would
require the Engineer to be located in the area.

Summary of Position

The Linux Software and Hardware Engineer is responsible for Linux
and HPC development and support.

The position requires an understanding of BIOS, LinuxOS (Desktops
and Servers), and component driver functionality.

The individual works on everything from Desktop Linux builds to
servers in High Performance Computing Clusters going into data
centers and on the Top 500 list.

The Engineer is also engaged in interaction with customers,
deployment of systems, design of systems, troubleshooting, and
support.

Essential Functions:

* Manage the deployment of desktop and server Linux builds

* Support production environment in regards to Linux deployment in
both the software and hardware arenas

* Production support and setup of High Performance Computing
Clusters

* Onsite installations of High Performance Computing Clusters

* Work with hardware vendors and customers on design and
development

* Technical response and design assisting for bid and quote
responses

* Support customers with hardware and software issues

* Testing and R&D

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

* Proficiency with MS Office Products (Word, Excel, Access,
PowerPoint, etc.)

* Strong technical and analytical abilities (PC/Hardware)

* Ability to present technical solutions - while also building
prototypes, and resolving technical and product related issues
(troubleshooting as well)

* Strong technology research and computer architecture design
skills

* Ability to present and explain company and technical
information, verbally and in writing.

* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build productive
and lasting relationships and impressions with management,
employees, and customers

* Ability to document testing and procedures accurately

* Ability to meet deadlines and goals, and demonstrate a strong
work ethic

* Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a
fast-paced environment

* Ability to embrace change and adapt to changing priorities

* Perform other duties as assigned

* Ability to rebuild the Linux Kernel

* Knowledge of cluster computing

* Diskless configuration and working with images

* Experience with Infiniband networking and OFED

* Experience with GPUs and CUDA/OpenCL

* MPI, C, C++, Fortran, perl, python

* Stress testing and benchmarking servers

* SQL, HTTP

* Knowledge of scientific software used in the HPC space

* Experience with clustered filessytems

* Experience with cluster managers

Education:

* BS Degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of education
and experience.

Qualifications/Experience:

* 3+ Years experience working on Linux in a production environment

* BS in ME, EE or CS

* Strong knowledge in Linux Operating Systems

* Knowledge of scripting in Linux (bash)

* Basic understanding of network and network switches

* Understanding netbooting and netbooting configurations
