THE FTAA REALITY TOUR

PICA’s Rice & Beans committee has the task of creating events that help to build community. We invite you to an event which will bring people together to warm & enliven a January evening while we spark our minds and open our hearts.
Gather for the premiere showing of a multi-media presentation of stories and pictures from the Free Trade Reality Tour, the PICA coordinated delegation that traveled to El Salvador last October.
The delegation, which includes people active in several Maine organizations, will share some of what they learned about the winners and losers in the experiences with free trade in El Salvador, and the window that provides on our own experiences with corporate globalization here at home.
Come catch a bit of the contagious sense of hope and determination that the delegation picked up from some of the amazing people we met: community members from Bangor’s sister village, leaders in the largest peasant organization, economists, doctors leading healthcare strikes, people working toward a sustainable environment, sweatshop workers, and participants in the people’s movement for economic justice and dignity.
Bring food to share at the potluck, or just bring yourself, family and friends.
