Hey
folks,
I tried to send out
this message several days ago but I don't think it ever went. Please forgive me
if this ends up being a repeat.

Dear
Friends,
I wanted to let you know
that as of next Monday, I will be leaving my job with Congressman Michaud's office to accept a
position as Campaign Manager in a targeted state race in Missouri. While this is certainly an abrupt life change, it is
one I'm very excited about. My new boss's name is Representative Mike
Sager. He is one of only a very few (5, I think) Democrats in the Missouri
Legislature to have the courage to vote against the state Constitutional ban on
gay marriage. Because of this vote and his unwillingness to give in to extreme
pressure, he is the #1 Republican target in the state. Apparently the MO Dems
lost control of the Legislature for the first time in 50 years in 2002, and they
only need 9 seats to take it back. To make that work though, they need to hold
onto this seat.
I can't tell you how sad I am to be leaving this great
office and opportunity it gave me to work with all of you. All I can say is that
our trip to El Salvador was an incredible experience - one that I won't soon
forget. The strong bond we all formed with one another in such a short time was
amazing, but then again so was each individual in the delegation. I hope you
will all keep in touch (you can reach me at [EMAIL PROTECTED]) and keep me in the loop about your rabble-rousing on
issues of trade. On a practical note, Matt Robison in our office will be
your new contact on trade matters until a permanent replacement is hired after
the election.
So, thank you all for making trade policy such a personal
thing to me. Whatever I do from now on, the lessons I learned will stay with me.
Again, please stay in touch! I will be back in Washington after November and
expect to see you all out there protesting CAFTA if Dubya wins and the FTA comes
up early next year.
Que Viva Bangor y Que Viva
Carasque!
With love,
Rachel a.k.a
"Gov"
