New to Maven

Hi all,

I'm new to Maven and I need more information to build successfully the source 
code.

I've just downloaded the code from the following URL 

        http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/incubator/ftpserver/

and I'd like to know how to build the jars and start the server.

I tried with  

        mvn package

but I get test failures.

Could you give me some tips ?
