The ftpd-typical.xml binds the server to port 2121 not the default port, 21. So you either need to change the port to 2121 when connecting or update the config XML to use port 21. To connect to the port 2121, you need to do the following:
> ftp > op localhost 2121 This should allow you to login to the server. ftp to "myServer" would not work unless you changed the name of your computer to myServer or your DNS resolves myServer to your system.
