=============================================

1) Lucian Beebe presents...

We have both good news and bad news!

Good news: We have the big wig, head hunco, Flash guy from
Macromedia USA!

Bad news: We are not sure what he is going to talk about!

However we have strongly asked, on your behalf, that it not be
the usual run of the mill "This is Flash MX 2004" type of presentation.

*Lucian's info*

Lucian Beebe is a Senior Product Manager for Flash at Macromedia.

Lucian focuses on Rich Internet Applications (RIAs) and drives the
requirements for Flash.

The result is that Macromedia users can develop compelling
applications using Flash integrated with other Macromedia and
non Macromedia technologies.

Working closely with customers worldwide, Lucian brings their
requirements for Flash and RIAs back to the product development
teams at Macromedia and works with them to develop the next
versions of Flash.

Lucian's areas of particular focus are data connectivity and development
tools support; making it easier to develop sophisticated software
solutions with Flash as the front end client.

A veteran of 13 years in the software development industry, Lucian
brings perspective on large-scale and mission-critical software
development, software development tools and process management.

Bringing this knowledge to Flash development will mature Flash
development for both designers and developers.

Previous to his role at Macromedia, Lucian worked for Rational
Software and excelled in product management, business development
and sales.

Lucian has in fact held almost every job possible in a software company.

This has enabled him to understand the main points of building software
and great design in Flash, all the way from documentation through to
business development.

Lucian understands that the choice of programming environments affects
every part of the project team and that it is political as much as technical.

Using that perspective, he works to make Flash approachable and
acceptable to the full product team.

Lucian completed his studies at Brown University, USA.

In those few moments away from work, Lucian enjoys windsurfing!

Here is a sample of Lucian's writing...

2) What is all the confusion about Coldfusion?
    By Steve Onnis

Recently Steve was overheard talking to a Macromedia partner*** that
had no interest in ColdFusion, or it appears, even no knowledge what it was all about.

However after a few moments Steve was able to "Turn the light globe on"
and now that Macromedia partner is no longer confused about ColdFusion.

Steve will also tell us about the other Macromedia User Group in Melbourne,
the ColdFusion one...

ColdFusion User Group (CFUG) http://www.cfcentral.com.au/

*** A well known Macromedia partner, and one that is well known to MUV,
but shall remain nameless to protect the innocent.

*Steve's Bio*

Steve Onnis - Has been developing with ColdFusion for just under 2 years
now, and has recently taken on his own business, Domain Concept Designs
on a full-time basis.

Please note: The Master of Ceremony for the night needs to have
flexibility in changing the order of presenters than what is listed
in any email or Website.
