Maybe you could employ some search engine (and human) friendly URLs - /blah/2003/10/01/ etc etc instead of query strings.
may convince the client to do away with the frameset if they feel query strings are ugly. I used to do brower sniffing but the tedium in updating and checking for every little variant stopped me. Firebird now has a User Agent switcher that allows you to change the UA to anything at all, unlike Opera which still retains an "Opera" substr in the str.
