For info: copy of msg to MM flsh support. Anyone with identical tests results are welcome... Trying to build a profile of the bug. Thx,
Pierre << EMAIL COPY >> Hi Cleober, Thanks for your reply. I'll answer your questions in order. -> Does this happen on all files with .AS only? I have not tested it with .AS files, at this time I only tested FLA. FLA with 'inline' actionscript. -> Does this occur on small sized files, less than 1mb? Since you mentioned it, I went back to my 'lab' and tested with a small file containing only actionscript (FLA: 46Kb.) Could not reproduce the error. Since I have only 24 hours to reply.. :) I didn't do further testing to see at which stage (size or files added) it breaks. But I hope that by the time you reply I will have further info for you as well as a test file to send you. -> Does this happen on one same file or even on new files? As described in my post on webforums, I created a new file, dragged the components required, and then copied and pasted the code to the various movie_clips. (all _mc where within the FLA) -> Does this happen if you work on other Windows XP/2000 machines? As described in my post on webforums, yes. I reproduced the error with 2.5 computers now. 1. My main dev computer, Athlon XP, Win XP Pro latest updates. 2. My laptop (HP-Intel), Win 2000 clean with latest patches. 3. Same laptop, fresh new XP Pro install with all patches. (installed patches before installing MM) All my machines had the full MM2004 (DevNet) suite installed, as well as Flash Remoting 2004. 4. Other users reported identical problems (MM webforums, Australian UG) -> Do you have all the updates for your Windows XP? Yes, well as far as the MS web update is concerned. -> Can you please provide us with a detailed information on how we could duplicate the issue at our end. As described above, I have not been able to identify why/when the file breaks. As far as flash is concerned it saves the file just fine. 1. Create a new FLA 2. Drag a few components to include them in the library. 2. Create a few small _mc, add few icons (png, jpg) 3. Write a bit of AS in the root of these _mc. i.e import xx; createClassObject(xyz); attachMovie(xyz); etc. 4. save your file. 5. preview it, change a few things in the AS, Ctrl-S again.. etc... Take on the job to write a nice clean coded file, some work that bakes your noodles a bit. 6. Close the file, even Flash totally for kicks. 7. Open the file again, and get ready to cry... this file is missing most of your AS modifications. 8. Make further modifications, then SaveAs and repeat process 6. The file was properly saved ! 9. Again you can start process 5 and you'll continue to loose data until you save it with SaveAs. According to my preliminary testing, when you SaveAs to the/an existing file, the problem is identical. You must choose a new name. << UPDATED >> It seems that I can alternate between 2 files with the SaveAs (more testing), but seems to break if you SaveAs on the same file you are editing. Just a thought... The people that have the same issue as well as myself use the DevNet release. I have tested both the downloaded version and the CD version ! Have not tested a boxed version ! Would there be a difference ?? << END COPY >> "Pierre Christen" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote in message news:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > > There is a workaround... save your files with different names everytime, > this should work, if you descide to overwrite an existing file I found that > you MUST delete the file first, otherwise it will often break the exact same > way...!! > > Cheers, > Pierre > > "Lindsay Evans" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote in message > news:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > > > > > > Thanks Pierre, > > That's certainly dissapointing :| > > Oh well, back to plain ole MX then, I spose. > > > > I'm just glad that I got MX2004 through DevNet, if I'd payed money for > this > > I'd be incredibly pissed off. > > > > -- > > Lindsay Evans. > > Developer, > > Red Square Productions. > > > > [p] 8596.4000 > > [f] 8596.4001 > > [w] www.redsquare.com.au > > > > > > > -----Original Message----- > > > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of microgluff > > > Sent: Monday, 13 October 2003 3:34 PM > > > To: Flash Developers List > > > Subject: [fugli] Re: FMX2004 & disappearing code > > > > > > > > > Hi Lindsay, > > > > > > I've had the same issue for some time now and we are not alone... :( > > > MX2004 is broken bad, therfore makes it unusable for production use... > > > > > > > > > > --- You are currently subscribed to fugli as: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] MX Downunder AsiaPac DevCon - http://mxdu.com/
