In all countries I lived in so far, you have to check your car at an official service at least once a year, and somewhere once each six months to be able to drive it. That official service should check all critical things about your car and if something is wrong, it'll sent you to a mechanic. I don't see that being done with computers (ie. No official service checks your Windows every 6 months and if they are not ok, you can't use them anymore). I also think this thread is stupid :) But that's my opinion only.
