You certainly like to assume. MS being aware doesn't mean they are involved. Even if they are, I suspect they will not go around saying that the vendor screwed up. They will simply help them with it. On a daily basis MS sends people into companies and corrects and troubleshoots things vendors did incorrectly. I have friends in MCS and that is pretty much all they do day in and day out, correct what partners and vendors made mistakes on in customer sites. The vendors/partners tend to be pissy about it but not quite as pissy if MS went around telling everyone publicly whose stuff they had to throw out and redo.
