Perhaps not strictly, literally, "is equal by definition", but if you read "==" to mean something like "is inherently very closely linked in any loosely capitalistic model" would you fail to understand that? Or is it that you simply know knothing about cultures other than your own, and/or how and why cultures change? Go read what any vaguely contemorpary sociology of culture has to say about globalization, Coca Cola-ization, Disney-ization, etc, etc. Oh -- and if you are _in_ the US, you may have to pay special attention to what scholars from _elsewhere_ have to say...
