I think it's getting a bit better, but I used to be able to predict who was 
going to be 
screened with about 95% accuracy.  The "random" algorithm was:

1) whoever is next in line when a screening position is open (if carrying a 
bomb, 
do not be first in the boarding line)

2) anyone annoying (if carrying a bomb, have an annoying confederate and get in 
line behind them)
