Actually, there was a big public debate in Israel after the war last
year, regarding the television channels showing rocket hits locations
(thus (according to one side, supposedly) helping the Hizbolla). This
debate wasn't then about Google, although in retrospect, it might have
been. I first read about the subject in an Israeli news website
(http://www.ynet.co.il/articles/0,7340,L-3463893,00.html if anyone feels
like reading some Hebrew :).
In any case, I've always thought that the usefulness and security
implications of Google Earth would be much more interesting if the
images were even close to real time. Even a resolution of a day or half
a day would have a great effect.
