And, of course, "everyone knows" (c) that jail is the best place to put a criminal so that way he can make up the damage he/she did and then rehabilitate him/herself.
The skills learned in jail help the rehabilitation and the recidivism rate of previous offenders is very low of course. :-) As to the murder rate in the UK, you had better also factor in the rate of increase after the ban on guns. ie: What was the rate BEFORE the ban? Just give the criminals a bit more time to import more guns. Same thing happened in Australia after their gun ban. Basic flaw - what right does anyone have to take away the right to protect yourself?
