Why not? As the, ahem "developed" nation with the highest felony conviction rate and highest proportion of adults in prison at any given moment, it's probably as good a place to start as any... After all, with the increasing privatization of your prison systems, the growth rate in imprisonmnt necessary to maintain profitability under such a funding model will eventually require all but the very, very wealthiest of Republican voters to be convicted criminals serving time!
