I've seen a few digital cameras which won't "give it up" without their own 
proggie, but they are rare indeed. What I normally do is pop out the card and 
plug it into a USB base station from SanDisk which mounts it as a drive on USB. 
Simple matter of navigating down to the proper folder and copying out. However, 
as I indicated, some cameras are fussy and require THEIR software to read from 
the connector on the camera itself.
