I think it really depends on where you are located.  In Florida, it's
outstanding.  Then I hear from my brother in a different part of the
country that it sucks. 

AT&T has typically been the gold standard, but it's dammed expensive.

Verizon and other CDMA/TDMA carriers are not an option for us, we need
GSM.

Funny, I have them for three personal lines and they all equally suck.
Consistent dropped calls, even with full bars.  Disconnected calls from
the system regularly, as in daily.  You can call a phone number and
instead of getting who you dialed, you get a completely different phone
on the other end.  Receiving calls of the same.  Their customer service,
well, if you ever need a good laugh, just call them.  They will tell you
whatever you need to hear, and then not deliver on a single thing,
except to promptly send you your bill.

We used Verizon where I worked and they were flawless for us.  That is
where I intend to end up.
