I didn't see Scientific American mentioned yet (perhaps because I wasn't paying
attention), but it is one of my favorites. Moderately low-level monthly
flyover of general happenings in science, mostly from the horses' mouths,
without falling completely into the weeds in any one area.
It is an interesting metric how a minor SciAm story today would have been the
lead story twenty-thirty years ago. There is so much going on today that
things that would have rocked the world in the past get little if any mention.
