Since this is becoming something of a rant about the Tesla, which in
its defense is a sweet piece of machinery, I should point out the
issue here isn't the Tesla (which, in addition to being a sweet piece
of machinery, has a 53k sedan model coming out for the 2012 model
year), it's about the future. You can either view it with fear,
masochism, denial or curiosity - everyone appears to be fixated on the
first three, I have more fun with the fourth.

What I'm really waiting for, and since my Russian isn't quite up to
snuff I haven't found primary sources on this yet, but I'm sure
somebody in Russia has thought about "climate change = permanent warm-
water port". I'm waiting until the discussions start moving towards
whether we want to stabilize at a particularly higher temperature than
over the last century - sort of a Mississippi River Commission for
temperature.
